GAZEMBER MODIFICATIONS

Quad 303 CIRCUIT MODIFICATIONS

• Dual mono 9 amp power supply utilising two complete sets of bridge rectifiers bypassed with Schottky diodes and two elcctrolytic capacitors bypassed with a metallised polypropylene capacitor (per channel)
• The driver board electrolytic capacitors have been replaced with  low ESR capacitors significantly improving the mid range, treble performance and dynamic range. 
• The driver board earth loop resistance has been reduced and the amplifier output impednace has been halved - giving the amplifier significantly better control over the speaker coils.
• Each of the two 2200 µF power supply capacitors have been bypassed with one low ESR 2,200 µF electrolytic plus ametallised polypropylene capacitor to increase the peak current delivery at all frequencies
• Each of the two 2200 µF output capacitors have been  replaced with four low ESR 2200 µF capacitors plus a metallised polypropylene capacitor to improve the mid and high frequencies and to increase the peak current delivery at all frequencies - multiple capacitors in parallel have a quarter of the ESR of one capacitor.
• The increase in output capacitance from 2200 µF per channel to 8400 µF per channel allows full power to be maintained down to below 20 Hz instead of the usual drop off starting at 70Hz - giving a deeper, tighter and more dynamic base.
• The output power levels are true RMS power but unlike the standard Quad 303 which can be run at 45 Watts with the outputs shorted (max power allowed by the limiting circuits - see the graphs below)  - "Gazember" amps CANNOT be safely shorted at high power levels - exactly like the high power C Series NAD amps which quote the increased power delivered into lower loads as "dynamic power"
• Gazember 303 amps are not designed to work safely with Quad electrostatics
• Relevant components are changed to enable reliable delivery of 160 Watts RMS and the entire Gazember comes with a 12 month parts and labour guarantee

• IN OTHER WORDS, A GAZEMBER IS DESIGNED TO PLAY MUSIC THROUGH LOUDSPEAKERS AT PEAK LEVELS of 160 WATTS AND NOT SINE WAVES INTO RESISTORS

Quad 33 CIRCUIT MODIFICATIONS

1. a high resolution CD input
2. disk input impedance modified to match your cartridge (standard value is 68K Ohms - Shure V15s are designed for 47K input impedance). 
3. Low ESR electrolytic capacitors in the disk signal path
4. improved  power supply regulation with a reduced noise level and power supply source impedance reduced by two thirds (standard supply compresses the dynamic range - particularly noticable on disk) 
5. power supply rectification diodes replaced with Schottky diodes
6. power supply capacitors bypassed with low ESR electrolytics and capacitance values tripled
7. polypropylene capacitors fitted throughout the signal path
8. driver board electrolytics replaced with low ESR electrolytics
9. Output source impedance reduced from 1K Ohms to 100 Ohms - improving the signal dynamics and making the pre amp less dependent on the quality of the interconnect cables
10. a twelve month guarantee
