The quad 50E is fitted, most unusually for a transistor amplifier,

with output transformers and many reviewers say

GAZEMBER MODIFICATIONS TO THE QUAD 50E

  1. bridge rectifiers bypassed with Schottky diodes
  2. 5,000 microFarad power supply capacitors bypassed with 4,400 microFarad low ESR capacitors plus polystyrene capacitors
  3. driver board electrolytics replaced with low ESR electrolytics
  4. power output increased from 50 watts RMS to 130 Watts RMS into 4 Ohm or greater loads
  5. quiescent currents and driver board voltage settings adjusted to Quad specifications
  6. output source impedance reduced inproving base response and giving the amplifiers tighter control over speaker drivers
  7. bi-amp output facility for bi-wiring to speakers
  8. fully serviced
  9. a twelve month guarantee
