Budding novelist grows half a million dollars!
by This is Oxfordshire
Ex budding novelist Ivan de Nemethy who was bound over four years ago for bombarding a former school friend with more than 1,000 threatening faxes has sold the story for half a million dollars, writes Andrew French.
de Nemethy, ex Oxford University and now ex Oxford having moved to Murder Mile in Hackney, has sold the story behind the story – his Novel, entitled “Do you get the cold faxes” is a reworking of two novels he started writing back in 1997.
Brandishing his cheque at a celebration lunch at the Randolph Hotel attended by a small circle of friends and Joe Esterhazy’s agent, de Nemethy said, “I would have invited a lot more people but the Randolph was short of airline bags.”
de Nemethy had approached Joe Esterhazy, a fellow Hungarian who wrote the film script for Fatal Attraction, asking for his help.
Afterwards, de Nemthy said that he thought his autobiography was a far better book than “Do you get the cold faxes” but that the public appeared to prefer anger and hate rather than honest emotion. He was hoping that his autobiography would get published now that he had made his name.
Asked if he would acknowledge his ex friend’s contribution to his success, de Nemethy said he might have sent him a cheque if it wasn’t for the fact that he would be breaching a Court Order.
